What do Graduate Do? Scotland

What do Graduates do? Scotland provides information about what happened to first degree, Masters and doctoral graduates from Scottish higher education institutions in 2006. Charts show what UK graduates from various disciplines were doing six months after graduation.  Although this is a snapshot taken at a very early point in their careers, it serves to show how career paths vary according to students’ choice of degree subjects. It also shows that many leavers entered occupations which are open to graduates of any discipline, drawing upon transferable skills gained through their university education.

Accompanying articles address some of the questions which are raised by intending students:

Many leavers from Scottish Higher education institutions want to remain in Scotland to work and study. Some of the articles therefore examine the labour market in Scotland’s regions and the opportunities for graduates in the Scottish economy.  References to sources of labour market information in Scotland’s regions direct readers to other sources of data to help them to make informed choices about prospects in areas where they want to live and work.
