What do graduates do? provides information about what happens to graduates after they leave higher education. All figures in this report refer to six months after graduation.
Key findings include:
- 5.5% of graduates from 2007 were unemployed six months after graduation, down from 6.0% for graduates from 2006.
- The average salary of graduates working in the UK was £19,300, an increase of 4.3% from the previous year’s.
- There has been a year-on-year increase in the number of graduates working as chartered accountants, financial analysts and personnel and recruitment consultants. More graduates were also going into arts, design, culture and sports professions, social and welfare professions and health professions.
- Fewer 2007 graduates have entered commercial, industrial and public sector management. There were also fewer graduates going into clerical, catering, retail and customer service types of ‘non-graduate’ jobs.
- There were over 2,100 fewer IT graduates in 2007, a year-on-year fall of 14.1%.
