HECSU membership

HECSU membership provides your institution with access to a range of unique benefits to aid career planning and enhance the employability of your students and graduates, as well as exclusive resources and up to date information for colleagues and staff.

Types of membership

We have three different types of membership: university, college and international.

University membership

If you are a university or higher education college in the UK you should apply for university membership. Your membership is institution-wide however, our contact point is usually through your careers team. Membership is on an institutional basis, not an individual basis. If you are unsure if your institution is already a member, have a look at the members list.

University member benefits include:

  • access to £45,000 special initiative bursary for professional training and development;
  • access to a £50,000 research fund to support research interests of careers staff;
  • eligibility for licence fee waiver for Prospects Vacancy and Event management software;
  • free careers event listings on Prospects.ac.uk;
  • Prospects branded bags, pens and z-cards for distribution to your students;
  • dual branded web cards;
  • quarterly hard copy of Graduate Market Trends;
  • annual copy of What do graduates do?;
  • entry in online Graduate Careers Services Directory, enabling you to connect with other careers and employability professionals;
  • regular e-newsletter Careers Services Update;
  • access to the Members Area of the HECSU website, providing exclusive research and LMI reports from our team of analysts.

The membership year runs from 1 August to 31 July and university fees are based on the size of your institution with a minimum fee of £275.

All applications for membership are subject to approval by the HECSU Board which meets twice a year.

College membership

If you are a UK college, sixth form or school providing careers support for students progressing to or through higher education this membership is for you. Your membership is institution wide although our contact point is usually through your careers team. Membership is on an institutional basis, not an individual basis. If you are unsure whether your institution is already a member, take a look at the members list.

College member benefits include:

  • Prospects publications on request;
  • Free careers event listings on Prospects.ac.uk;
  • Prospects branded bags, pens and z-cards for distribution to your students;
  • quarterly hard copy of Graduate Market Trends;
  • annual hard copy of What do graduates do?;
  • entry in online Graduate Careers Services Directory, enabling you to connect with other careers and employability professionals;
  • regular e-newsletter Careers Services Update;
  • access to the Members Area of the HECSU website, providing exclusive research and LMI reports from our team of analysts.

International membership

Applications are welcome from international universities providing higher education degrees recognised in the UK. Membership is on an institutional basis, not an individual basis. If you are unsure whether your institution is already a member, have a look at the members list.

  • quarterly hard copy of Graduate Market Trends;
  • annual hard copy of What do graduates do?;
  • entry in online Graduate Careers Services Directory, enabling you to connect with other careers and employability professionals;
  • regular e-newsletter Careers Services Update;
  • access to the Members Area of the HECSU website, providing exclusive research and LMI reports from our dedicated team of analysts.
